Please take a few minutes to study the leaflet overleaf and understand some of the very serious consequences of the caste legislation and case law. For the GE17 election, the Dharmic community needs to vote in large numbers and strategically. Political Party alliances and affiliations need to be set aside. Labour, LibDems, Greens and all the nationalist parties have supported caste legislation bar the odd MP in these parties. As you will see ALL the Prospective Parliamentary Candidates who have signed up are Conservative. Please note Operation Dharmic Vote is not being an agent of the Conservative party, as our analysis and rationale for supporting the independent Candidate in Leicester demonstrates.

ODV’s Key Objective – Repeal legislation AND Case Law
The information provided by the Govt in the consultation document presents and offers “choices” that have pre-emptive questions and deceptive options that have the potential that members of Dharmic Communities could misunderstand the process and potentially give responses that would compromise our communities’ future. This has been compounded by the conflicting advice some organisations have started to give out to the Hindu & Jain communities in filling in the consultation forms.

Having studied the Anti Caste Legislation Committee’s (ACLC) briefing papers on the potential impacts on individuals, businesses, community organisations and public authorities, and having listened to community concerns, I am fully aware of the perceived impacts of the legislation, and resultant case law on this community. I stand with the community to call for a repeal of the caste clause in the legislation thus removing the provision. Further, I would strongly advocate that the repeal takes effect immediately. If elected I will also support the efforts of my colleague Bob Blackman to seek support for Parliament to overturn any adverse judgements in case law.”

Operation Dharmic Vote assessment in Leicester. Local Dharmic communities are disappointed that political parties only pay lip service to their aspirations but habitually take their votes for granted. Imposing candidates, adopting patronising attitudes, using divisive community politics, and not taking account of constituency demography in Leicester has reached such proportions that Operation Dharmic Vote will be urging the community to vote for Sujata Barot, independent candidate for Leicester East. The likely support she will gain will be a wakeup call for the political parties.
