GEO accepts ACLC's Extension Request
ACLC Contribution
5th July 2017
Namaste
ACLC has been raising several key issues on the consultation for some months. One of them was a request for an extension as the election had prevented the GEO from responding to our questions.
We have this morning received a confirmation from the GEO:
“Yes – we now expect an extension of the consultation, probably by 2 months (thus, until Monday 18 September) to take account of the “purdah” interruption to the original consultation period. We will be seeking to confirm this later today, making the necessary changes on Gov.uk etc, but I think you can take this as definite. Sorry about the delay in clarifying this. We will let other stakeholder groups know later this morning.”
We thank both the GEO office and the Minister for granting an extension. This will give our community a better chance to engage. I would also like to thank ACLC members for their support in this exercise without which this would not have been possible.
ACLC has a number of initiatives to be announced soon that will help the Dharmic Communities respond to this consultation in an effective way. We look forward to Community leaders, organisations and their members making their contribution in this endeavour.
